The Cat with Iron Claws by Catherine Fisher, Illustrated by Nicola L Robinson

Cover Illustration for The Cat with Iron Claws by Catherine Fisher
I have just received advance copies of another recent illustration project, this time I have been working in the Celtic style for a magical story written by award winning poet and novelist Catherine Fisher and published by Pont Books.

'The Cat with Iron Claws' is a short retelling of an old legend, in the Welsh triad tradition. It is the tale of Henwen the magic sow and her terrible offspring Cath Palug, or Palug's Cat.  (Which graces the cover)

I have loved mythology and legend since I was given a book of greek myths as a child and have had tremendous fun illustrating  'The Cat With Iron Claws', working with the lovely  Viv Sayer (editor for Pont Books) I have produced cover art featuring the Cat itself and 6 full colour illustrations throughout the text. I have taken a few photo's from inside the book-

I have also had fun devising a number of celtic knotwork decorations and chapter spot illustrations-

Chapter 4 spot illustration, the sons of Palug.

The Cat with Iron Claws is published by Pont Books (Gomer Press) on March 15th 2012 and is the first book in the Island of the Mighty series.
